Fitness Flo: Week 1
How are you doing on those New Year’s resolutions? Need a little boost to get your body moving?
First of all, you’ve got to find yourself a workout buddy. You’ll be more motivated to actually get to the gym if the alternative is canceling on your friend again with some lame, vague excuse. Plus, you’ll probably work out a little harder if they’re right next to you watching – we’re all a bit competitive deep down inside. Best of all, it will be waaay more fun.
This week’s Flo is packed with those songs that make you bust a move whether you like it or not. Get to the gym with your buddy and we guarantee that the two of you will make a huge scene dancing your way through your stretching, weights and cardio. Try not to get kicked out.
1. “Work It” – Missy Elliot
This first track is a certified confidence-booster. If you’re feeling a little tubby and slow from the holiday cheese plates, Missy is here to help you get your head back in the game. Plus, her own fitness turnaround is some serious inspiration. Put it on during your warm-up stretches… or warm-up mini dance-off. Whatever you prefer.
2. “A Milli” – Lil Wayne
In case that last song wasn’t enough to make you feel completely invincible, this one will have you swaggering over to your first machine like you own the entire gym.
3. “Rock Your Body” – Justin Timberlake
Justin’s going to get you settled into a good rhythm and help you stay positive and motivated during those first few sets. Think of his hair in the 90s and remember this: we can all make transformations.
4. “Uptown Funk” – Mark Ronson
The persistent upbeat pace on this track makes it an absolutely perfect jam for crunches and leg lifts. Check out these little ladies to see how it’s done.
5. “Hot in Herre” – Nelly
I told you… that last one is intense! You’ll probably be pretty sweaty at this point, but this is only the beginning. Keep it up.
6. “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” – Wham!
Did you think we were going to make a dancey workout mix for friends and NOT put this track on there? You’re halfway through, so meet your buddy at the water cooler for a little hydrating dance interlude.
7. “A Little Less Conversation” – Elvis / JXL
It’s always great to catch up with friends, but you’re here to get to business and the chatting can wait for your cool-down. A little less conversation, a little more action!
8. “The Way You Move” – Outkast
By now, if you’ve been following the instructions, everyone around you will be watching you and your workout partner to see what kind of moves you’re going to pull out next. They like the way you move… and they might be asking to join your Flo pretty soon.
9. “Groove Is In The Heart” – Dee-Lite
The best part about working out with a friend and a Flo is that moment when you make eye contact as a new song comes on that you both just can’t resist. Turn up the volume and get groovy!
10. “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” – Michael Jackson
You’re drenched in sweat and your workout buddy is looking like they’re about to cry. But Michael doesn’t get down with quitters, and he’s taking over the mic to make sure you finish strong.
11. “Little L” – Jamiroquai
Jamiroquai got Napoleon to strap on his moon boots and get his body moving, so it should do the trick to get you through the last part of this workout.
12. “Pony” – Ginuwine
You’ve made it to the end, and it’s time to stretch out. Grab a towel and celebrate with this classic throwback and a few lazy, sultry cool-down dance moves. Nice work.
